City Mindful

Multicultural identities, diversity and race

Between worlds, and whole.

For people living across cultures, languages, and generations: the first-generation weight, the code-switching, the belonging that never feels quite complete.

The work

Some of the hardest work has no name in either language.

Living between cultures is its own psychology. The expectations you carry for your family and the ones they carry for you; the parts of yourself that only exist in one language; the quiet cost of translating your whole life for rooms that were not built with you in mind. As a bilingual, bicultural clinician, I know this terrain from the inside as well as the chair.

This work is for BIPOC and multicultural clients, immigrants and first-generation adults, and anyone navigating racial identity, cultural belonging, and intergenerational patterns. We hold both the pride and the weight, in whichever language your feelings speak most honestly.

When this is the work

When identity is the work.

The first-generation weight.

Being the one who translates, who succeeds, who bridges is a role before it's a choice. We look at what it has cost and what you actually want to carry forward.

Code-switching & belonging.

When you're always adjusting to fit the room, it can become hard to know where the real you lives. The work is to gather those selves back into one life that's yours.

Family, culture & generations.

Love, duty, and difference run through immigrant and multicultural families in complicated ways. We honor the culture while making room for the person you're becoming inside it.
