Her story

Between worlds, and at home in the work.

Helping people come home to who they already are.

Dr. Lyssett Martínez (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of City Mindful. Bilingual and bicultural, she earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia and brings extensive experience across both public and private mental health settings, having honed her clinical skills at renowned institutions such as the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, NYU School of Medicine-Langone Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital, and Lenox Hill Hospital-Northwell Health.

Dr. Martínez provides affirming clinical services with a culturally competent and personalized approach to address a range of psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. She is a certified gender specialist and a certified provider through the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), and her therapeutic approach blends psychodynamic and empirically supported treatments such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and interpersonal work.

Her cultural humility and identity-affirming lens offer a client-focused approach that helps individuals realize their full potential and lead fulfilling lives while reaching their short- and long-term goals.

Today she serves as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Lenox Hill Hospital, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, and as a Visiting Scholar at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she supervises psychological assessment for doctoral candidates.

How I work

I will affirm your identity and guide your healing.

Dr. Lyssett Martínez

I approach my work with an open mind and a deep respect for your unique experiences, values, and cultural background. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I strive to learn from you as we work together.

My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore your challenges and strengths collaboratively.

Affirming care for

Everyone here is met as themselves.

Affirming care here is the default, not something you have to ask for. These are some of the communities this practice serves and stands with. If you don't see yourself named, that is a failure of the list, not of your welcome. Te recibimos como eres.
